Book Recap: Fated Throne – Book 6 in the Zodiac Academy Series TEST
The Shadow Queen
Six weeks have passed since Tory was captured and corrupted by shadows. She sits on Lionel's lap, calls him "my king," and no longer recognises her own sister. Vard — a Cyclops Seer — has twisted her memories so that she believes Darius caused all her pain, and her loyalty now belongs entirely to the Dragon King.
Tory on Lionel's throne
Lionel wastes no time consolidating power. Using shadows to force the Councillors to kneel, he crowns himself King of Solaria, outlaws Order fraternization, and creates K.U.N.T.s — brutal enforcement squads led by a shadow-corrupted Tory — to persecute "lesser" Orders. Meanwhile, the Heirs and Darcy hunt Nymphs with Phoenix-forged weapons and search desperately for the Imperial Star. Gabriel secures an Order Suppressant antidote from his Alestrian contacts, and the clock starts ticking on getting Tory back.
Darkmore & the Zodiac Guild
In Darkmore prison, Orion is suffering — the broken star vow has cursed him with relentless bad luck. Darcy visits to sever their bond so he can finally crack the code on his father's encrypted diary. A dying prisoner named Jasper reveals himself as the last surviving member of the Zodiac Guild, a secret society that once protected the Vega royal line. With his final breath, he gives Orion the diary password: Ankaa.
The diary changes everything. Orion's father planned his own death. The Imperial Star is hidden in his tomb. And Orion is destined to become Guild Master. Before Orion can act on any of it, Lionel has him extracted from prison — Vard foresaw that Orion is key to finding the star — and places him under house arrest at the palace, shadow bands on his wrists.
Breaking Free
The group manages to trap Tory in a night iron cage. When Darcy injects the antidote, Tory's Phoenix explodes free with such force it destroys the cage and nearly kills everyone in the room. Tory is herself again — but when she sees Darius, she recoils in genuine terror. Vard had conditioned her to associate Darius with torture, layering false memories over every session until the two were inseparable in her mind. Max spends five gruelling hours sifting through her memories to uncover the full horror of what was done to her.
Tory's Phoenix breaking free from the night iron cage
Gabriel sees no clean escape route. Tory must return to Lionel and pretend she is still under his control — right up until the moment they can kill him. The Guardian bond still pulls her toward the Dragon King, a cruel reminder of everything she cannot yet undo.
The Imperial Star & the Prophecy
Darcy discovers a network of secret King's passages beneath the palace — passages that only Vega blood can open, and that connect directly to Orion's cottage. On the full moon, the diary reveals the Imperial Star's location: Orion's father's tomb at Everhill Graveyard.
The group fights through Reaper Hounds and undead Fae to reach it. Inside the tomb, Orion becomes Guild Master, a sword mark burning into his forearm, and claims the star — a rough, diamond-glittering stone that can only be wielded by a crowned sovereign. From the Royal Seer's Chair, Gabriel delivers a prophecy: "Blood of the deceiver may change the course of destiny... The hunter will pay the price... Many will fall for one to ascend."
Darcy then uses Diego's hat to access Lavinia's memories and finally understands the full picture: Lavinia is a Nymph princess, betrayed by Octavius Acrux, banished to the Shadow Realm by the Phoenix Queen, and now possessing Clara's body. The enemy has a face — and a history.
The Battle of the Amphitheatre
On Christmas Eve, Lionel captures both Darcy and Orion. Clara drains Darcy's magic, and Orion is forced to stab Darcy three times. On Christmas Day, Lionel tries to force Darius into marriage with Mildred — but the groom is Gabriel in disguise, and the vows don't bind.
Gabriel delivers a devastating warning: one Vega twin will die unless Darius travels to the Caves of the Forgotten. There, ancient magic offers him a deal. In exchange for breaking every bond on himself and Tory — the Star Crossed curse, the Guardian bond, all of it — Darius will die in exactly one year. He accepts without hesitation.
The battle at the amphitheatre erupts in chaos: Seth in Phoenix-metal armour, Geraldine bellowing her full name like a war cry, Dante descending as a Storm Dragon. Orion kills Clara — not as an act of cruelty, but to free his sister's soul; her last breath is a release. Lavinia reforms in her true body, black hair and red eyes, more powerful than she has ever been, and curses Darcy with a shadow handprint burned into her arm before they can stop her.
Tory burning off Lionel's hand at the amphitheatre
Then Tory feels it — the Guardian bond snapping. Her Phoenix ignites, and she burns off Lionel's hand. Permanently. They escape on Dante's back into the night. Every bond broken. Every curse lifted. And every single one of them now a fugitive.
